about

A classical style trio, for the unusual combination of viola, piano and bass. Each movement of the trio is in the form of theme and variations, each instrument taking the spotlight at various stages. Stylistically, the trio has flavors of jazz and rock music. The home key is C major, reached in the last movement via first and second movements in Dorian and Phrygian modes. The time signature is 4/4, except for the adagio in 3/4. The bonus track is a study (etude) for organ, on which the third movement of the trio was based.
